With the holidays approaching and energy prices on the rise, EDF is stepping in to offer a helping hand to customers in need. The company has launched the December Sunday Saver Challenge, allowing current customers to receive free electricity between 8am and 4pm on December 25. New customers can also participate in the challenge and earn their free electricity by switching to EDF.
But the benefits don’t stop there. Customers have the opportunity to earn up to 16 hours of free electricity on Sundays throughout the month of December, with their free entitlements being added to their accounts after Christmas. This initiative is part of EDF’s commitment to encouraging customers to use energy during off-peak hours.
The Sunday Saver Challenge, which was introduced in September, rewards customers with free electricity on Sundays if they are able to shift their electricity usage away from peak hours, typically between 4pm and 7pm. Each household that signs up receives a target for how much electricity they should aim to switch to off-peak hours. The more they are able to switch, the more free electricity they can earn. For example, switching 40% of normal usage to off-peak hours can result in up to 16 hours of free electricity on the following Sunday.
In October, 76% of customers who participated in the challenge received at least four hours of free electricity. Rich Hughes, Director of Retail at EDF, expressed excitement about the initiative, stating, “We know the festive period can bring increased costs for everyone, so we are pleased to give back to our customers and hopefully alleviate some of the financial burden associated with electricity costs on Christmas Day.”
This offer comes at a time when many households are feeling the pinch of rising energy prices, making it a welcome relief for customers looking to save on their electricity bills during the holiday season. So, if you’re an EDF customer or considering making the switch, now is the perfect time to take advantage of this limited-time offer and enjoy some free electricity to brighten up your Christmas celebrations.
