A competition to find Britain’s ‘ugliest’ dog has been overwhelmed by entries of cute and adorable dogs, forcing organisers to clarify the criteria for the contest. The contest, led by ParrotPrint.com, aims to find a truly “butt ugly” dog to be crowned one of the ugliest in the land. However, the majority of entries have been of dogs that are too cute to qualify.
The head judge has highlighted the need for more dogs like Muppet, who is the early frontrunner for the title, rather than dogs like Ivy, who is deemed too attractive to be in the running. ParrotPrint founder Matt Dahan emphasized that the competition is specifically looking for dogs that make your eyes hurt when you look at them, not cute or pretty pets.
Muppet, a Chinese Crested dog from Peterborough, is currently leading the pack with his unique looks and playful nature. Despite the title of Britain’s ugliest dog not being one that many aspire to, past winners have gone on to enjoy exciting opportunities, such as Peggy who appeared in a film alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
To enter the contest, owners are encouraged to email their photos to uglydog@parrotprint.com before October 31. A shortlist of candidates will be announced in early November, with the winner being crowned in December. The winning dog will receive professional grooming and a before and after photo session to showcase their transformation.
So, if you believe your dog has what it takes to challenge Muppet for the title of Britain’s ugliest dog, don’t hesitate to submit your entry and see if your beloved pet can shine in a new light. Let’s celebrate the unique and unconventional beauty of our canine companions in this one-of-a-kind competition.
