Traffic Update: 3 Lanes Closed on M4 Near Bristol for Police Incident

The M4 Eastbound near Bristol was temporarily closed by police as they searched for a driver who failed to stop after a collision. According to a statement from Avon and Somerset Police, the incident occurred just after 7.10pm when a Mercedes AMG C43 car refused to pull over for the police between junctions 19 and 18.

The police spokesperson mentioned that the M4 at junction 18 and the A46 had to be closed temporarily while authorities searched for the driver involved in the collision at the A46 roundabout. The driver abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Police officers, along with drone and dog units, worked together to locate the individual. Fortunately, the authorities were able to apprehend the suspect at 8.22pm.

After the successful resolution of the police incident, the road was reopened. Inrix, a traffic information provider, confirmed the reopening of all lanes on the M4 Eastbound from J19 M32 (Bristol) to J18 A46 (Bath/Tormarton) at 8.35pm.
