In addition to the display, Lemmy’s last jar of Marmite, Milky Way bars from the band’s final tour in 2015, and other personal items are included. Festival-goers can also see Lemmy’s shower cap over a smoke alarm, a sticker about smoking hazards, and items like his reading glasses and credit card. The tribute aims to give fans a glimpse into Lemmy’s life on the road.
Vicky Hungerford, who is married to Lemmy’s former PA and security guard Alan Hungerford, emphasized the personal connection to Lemmy. The couple met while watching Motörhead in Derby in 2010, and their shared history with the band inspired the tribute at Bloodstock. Alan Hungerford expressed his deep admiration for Lemmy, highlighting the impact the rock icon had on his life.
As part of the tribute, a replica Lancaster bomber is suspended above the stage, reminiscent of Motorhead’s 1979 Bomber tour. After the festival, the bust containing Lemmy’s ashes will be transferred to Rock City in Nottingham, where it will be on public display. The bust will return to Bloodstock every August, ensuring that Lemmy’s legacy lives on at the festival.
Beyond Bloodstock, Lemmy’s ashes have also been scattered at the Wacken music festival in Germany and used in a tattoo by Metallica frontman James Hetfield. The enduring influence of Lemmy and Motörhead continues to resonate with fans worldwide, keeping the spirit of rock and roll alive.
