Professional dancer Johannes Radebe has addressed the rumors circulating about his departure from the popular BBC show, Strictly Come Dancing. Radebe, who graced the Strictly stage in 2018, took to Instagram to set the record straight, calling the rumors “lies” and asserting his commitment to the show. In a video post, he confidently stated, “I’m not going nowhere. I love @bbcstrictly and I want to do this beautiful show for as long as they want me – and the body will allow.”

Despite having other projects in the pipeline, such as his involvement in Kinky Boots, Radebe reassured fans that nothing will take him away from the Strictly dance floor. The 37-year-old dancer is currently paired with BBC Gladiators star Montell Douglas on the show.

Radebe’s declaration comes amidst a challenging time for the Strictly cast, particularly with the recent news of dancer Amy Dowden having to withdraw from the competition due to a stress fracture in her foot. Dowden, who was initially partnered with JLS star JB Gill, has now been replaced by dancer Lauren Oakley for the remainder of the series on BBC One.

The setback for Dowden comes as she continues her battle against stage three breast cancer. The Welsh dancer, who discovered a lump in her breast just before her honeymoon in the Maldives, underwent a mastectomy and chemotherapy to combat the disease. Fortunately, recent tests have shown “no evidence of disease,” bringing a glimmer of hope in her recovery journey.

Dowden had hoped to mark one year since her last chemotherapy treatment during the live show on Saturday, but her health takes precedence, forcing her to step back from the competition.

As the Strictly Come Dancing continues to captivate audiences with its dazzling performances and emotional journeys, Radebe’s commitment and Dowden’s resilience serve as testaments to the dedication and passion of the show’s talented dancers. Fans can look forward to witnessing more unforgettable moments on the dance floor as the season progresses.
