Mitchell Powell’s Legacy Lives On Through Heart Screening Event
In a heartfelt tribute to the memory of Mitchell Powell, a young father who tragically passed away during a double heart valve replacement surgery, his family has launched a free heart screening event as part of the Mitchell Powell Foundation. Mitchell, a 26-year-old from Swansea, was born with a heart condition that required numerous surgeries throughout his life. Despite his courageous battle, his heart was not strong enough to survive the procedure he had been eagerly anticipating.
Foundation’s Mission to Prevent Heartbreak
Following Mitchell’s passing, his family established the Mitchell Powell Foundation to continue the charity work he dedicated himself to during his lifetime. The foundation’s first initiative was a free heart screening day held at The Phoenix Centre in Townhill, Swansea, in partnership with Calon Hearts. A total of 60 individuals, split evenly between under-25s and over-25s, received comprehensive heart screenings that are typically valued at £280 per person.
