More than 20 spice products have been recalled due to concerns that they may contain peanuts that were not listed on the label, according to the Food Standards Authority (FSA). This includes products from Domino’s, which had previously pulled some sauces from sale over contamination fears. The list of affected foods produced by FGS Ingredients Ltd includes various dips, curry powders, and seasonings. Consumers are being advised to return these products for a full refund as a precautionary measure.
The FSA notice states that the recalled products are sold under different brand names at various retail stores, and point of sale notices will be displayed to inform customers about the recall. Among the products listed are Domino’s BBQ Dip, seasonings, and curry powders under the Favourit and Dunnes Store labels, as well as sausages and burgers from Westmorland Family Butchery. This latest recall comes after a previous incident involving undeclared nuts in mustard products from the same producer.
FGS Ingredients Ltd stated that they have conducted additional testing on their ingredients and did not find any peanut content or residue. However, they still advised customers to remove products containing mustard ingredients from sale. The FSA reiterated their advice for individuals with peanut allergies to avoid consuming products containing mustard until the affected items are identified. It is important for parents and caregivers of children with peanut allergies to carefully check food labels and inquire about potential mustard-containing products when eating out or ordering takeout.
Mustard products that contain traces of peanuts can be present in items like dips, sauces, salads, and pre-packaged sandwiches. The FSA issued this advice as a precautionary measure to ensure that people with peanut allergies have the latest information to keep themselves safe. It is crucial for those with allergies to stay updated on potential risks and take necessary actions to protect their health.
