bristol-city-vs-preston-north-end-match-live-updates

Hello and welcome to our final day of the season live blog as Bristol City look to finally secure their spot in the play-off places against Preston North End at Ashton Gate. The Reds were in action just a matter of days ago when they traveled to Elland Road to face Leeds United. However, it was a day to forget for the Robins as they slipped below their recent standards to be beaten 4-0 by Daniel Farke’s side. Fortunately, Liam Manning’s side haven’t had to wait too long for a chance to get back to winning ways. On paper alone, City come into today’s clash as favorites. Preston currently sit 20th in the Championship, just one point above the relegation zone and without a win in their last eight games in all competitions. However, England’s second tier has shown us time and time again that we should always expect the unexpected. Paul Heckingbottom’s side need a win to guarantee their spot in the Championship next season. On the other hand, while they could still finish in the top six with a defeat if other results are to go their way, the Robins need to claim all three points to ensure their Premier League dream isn’t ended for another 12 months. When these two sides met at Deepdale earlier this season, City secured a 3-1 win thanks to goals from Yu Hirakawa, Nahki Wells, and Max Bird. Hopefully, the Reds will manage to do the same again today. Follow along here for live updates throughout the day at Ashton Gate…

Good morning everyone! Can’t really believe it is, for now at least, the last day of the season. How exciting is it that there’s something to play for at this stage… and it’s not a place in the Championship. Liam Manning has to decide whether or not the time is right to risk both Joe Williams and Scott Twine with matches running out.
